South West Music School and Youth Dance Academy students have been resident at Dartington throughout the weekend developing their skills in film composition and devising dance for film.

During the weekend they have created original works for short films including newly digitalised silent footage from the Dartington Hall archive featuring, among others, a film performance of Ballet Jooss' 1935 Danse Macabre. A hugely successful event last year, this performance (at 4.30pm, repeated at 6pm) sees the students performing their works live alongside the selected footage. This innovative SWMS project enables the artists supported by Dartington in the 1930s to inspire the emerging artists we are supporting today.
